Backyard Ghost, in kollaboration with Sombre Soniks, present a new kompilation based upon Korochun, thee pagan Slavic Dark Holiday... Thee day when thee Black God and other spirits associated with dekay and darkness were most potent...

"The first recorded usage of the term was in 1143, when the author of the Novgorod First Chronicle referred to the winter solstice as "Korochun".

It was celebrated by pagan Slavs on December 21 the longest night of the year and the night of the winter solstice. On this night, Hors, symbolising old sun, becomes smaller as the days become shorter in the Northern Hemisphere, and dies on December 22, the winter solstice. It is said to be defeated by the dark and evil powers of the Black God. On December 23 Hors is resurrected and becomes the new sun, Koleda.

Modern scholars tend to associate this holiday with the ancestor worship. On this day Western Slavs lit fires at cemeteries to keep their loved ones warm, and organized feasts to honour the dead and keep them fed. They also lit wooden logs at local crossroads. In some Slavic languages, the word came to denote unexpected death of a young person and the evil spirit that shortens life."

Featuring 23 artists and released on thee Winter Solstice.

Cody Drasser releases debut solo dark ambient album,
‘The Fate Of Things’

Austin, TX December 11, 2012 — Peacock Window Recordings founder and operator, Cody Drasser, is proud to announce the arrival of his deeply immersive and dark ambient debut project entitled ‘The Fate Of Things’. Mastered by John Stillings of Steel Hook Prostheses, ‘The Fate Of Things’ will appeal to fans of Lull, Yen Pox and Sleep Research Facility, among others.

An Austin-based sound and visual artist, Cody Drasser has been a genre-crossing musician for over 20 years now. With his roots in the Long Island death metal scene of the 90’s, his ruthless guitar technique and complex songwriting were foundational to the signature sound of Afterbirth, a band that is widely recognized as an early originator of the Brutal Death Metal style. Earlier this year, Drasser began collaborating with artist Ben Roe, Jr. to create Caulbearer. Their ambient/noise soundscapes came together in the mysterious and droning ‘Haunts’, a Peacock Window production that was mastered by James Plotkin.

The origin of ’The Fate of Things’ was nearly a decade ago while Drasser lived in Queens and Brooklyn and began amassing a vast library of recordings – both original musical compositions and captured field samples. Experimental processing, refinement and final arrangement were completed in the heat of Austin’s summer in 2012. This progression of building, layering, evolving, experiencing the inevitable changes in life circumstances and seasons and the equally unavoidable fading of memory culminate in a masterfully rich audio fate. Drasser says, “It is a dark ambient album that deals not just with the vast limits of outer space and the known universe, but also contends with how the passage of time eventually erodes one’s memory to the point where one can no longer be sure that the memory is even true.”

Email peacockwindow@gmail.com for a free download code. Physical copies of ‘The Fate Of Things’ are available at independent Austin record stores and through Peacock Window’s blog site and Drasser’s bandcamp page.

Peacock Window Recordings is continuing to expand boundaries in ambient and experimental music with exciting new albums in the works for 2013. Demos are being accepted for consideration of additional 2013 releases.

ESOTERIC RITUAL DARK AMBIENT

ALCHEMICAL AVANTGARDE

BLACK INDUSTRIAL

Biography: Drummer/Keyboardist/Composer/Vox for Black Metal/Industrial bands since 1995.

From 2000 to 2005 Bathory Legion left black metal and through an intense path of Mysticism and Esoterism experienced a new way of making music, to show the duality of life through a different perspective. BL calls it Dark Ambient Avantgarde.

The biggest source of inspiration for BL are the experiences she had since she was “born”, and the practice to which she’s dedicating all her life in this amazing Black Cosmos and Anticosmos. which can be Alchemical, Physical, Psychic, Esoteric.

All these concepts are resumed in the word she created “Anarcoesoterismo”, a Hymn to the Black Cosmos and Chaos.Musically BL range from experimentations to Avantgarde, from Industrial to Neofolk compositions. unforgiving Drone, distorted vocals, visionary suggestions. Alchemical symbologies, unique sounds. All that has been defined the Harsh Esoteric journey.
